Since its inception in 2005, the Federated Challenge has raised several million dollars for the Kids of Minnesota. It is one of the state’s largest and most efficient charities—with nearly 100 percent of the funds raised going to help deserving young people have a better chance in life.
The Federated Challenge was inspired by Federated’s Chairman Al Annexstad and his wife Cathy, principally to raise money in support of the efforts of the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization in Minnesota. Big Brothers Big Sisters is our nation’s oldest and largest youth mentoring organization, providing one-to-one mentoring relationships between disadvantaged children and caring adults.
After experiencing the impact of mentoring first-hand, the Annexstads are resolved to help provide the children of Minnesota with the same positive support they received growing up in southern Minnesota.
This two-day event, hosted by Federated Insurance Companies, is held in the Twin Cities area and is supported and attended by several of Minnesota’s and our nation’s most respected corporate and private citizens. The 2009 event included a dinner and auction at the Saint Paul RiverCentre, followed by a golf tournament the next day at the prestigious Interlachen Country Club in Edina.
